Fogra is organising a joint project at drupa under the theme ‘web2proof’. At the Fogra stand, trade fair visitors shall be offered the possibility of generating a customised test form using a web-interface. It comprises typical objects such as images, graphics and text representing different problem categories categories (spot colours, overprints, transparencies, etc.), which reflect nowadays workflow at its best. Having the goal of mimicking the daily challenges as closely as possible, special control elements such as the Ghent Working Group test elements will be used.
It is the task of the web2proof partners in the workflow management arena, to correct and prepare the customised PDF files towards a “flattened and CMYKonly” print ready PDF. The output intend will be FOGRA39, i.e. offset printing on gloss or matt coated paper (screen ruling according to 60/cm). The processed file is then available for output to all other web2proof partners.
In this manner, the interested party can view his test form as a softproof, a contract proof, a digital print out or just all of them in the preferred combination. Last but not least, it is possible to obtain production print sheets of a predefined test form printed according to ISO 12647-2 from a printing machine manufacturer for comparison or proof simulation. In the process, one can get information about important aspects of the ProcessStandard Offset Printing (PSO) and the proof which conforms to it.

The partners demonstrate the possibilities of state of the art pre-flighting and PDF correction technologies, how high quality soft, hard proof and digital printing solutions and thus how standardisation is working from the design stage up to the output.
