FograCert for your proof substrate

Starting from april, 1st 2007 the FograCert proof substrate will be performed in accordance with ISO DIS 12647-7:2006. This draft international standard contains unified colour coordinates for proofing substrates. Proof substrates shall have a minimum CIE-L*-value of 95 and CIE-a*- and CIE-b*-values of 0 with tolerances of ± 2. To achieve compatibility with previous procedures for proof substrate cer

tification we expand the lower tolerance for the CIE-b*-value to CIE-b* = -4. The categorization of the proof substrates into glossy, semi-matte and matte will be performed via gloss measurement according to ISO 8254-1 [TAPPI 75]. The limits will be gloss readings of 20 % and 60 %. The ageing test will be unaltered and is now part of ISO DIS 12647 - 7. The are no references for ISO-Brightness and therefore these measurements will not be performed any longer. Proof substrates will be further tested with respect to conformance to the requirements of white backings.
